The Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish
The Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish
is a fairy tale in verse by Alexander Pushkin, published 1835. This tale I have read during my childhood and I really love this tale because of its message about how the greedy old woman lost everything she wish for. Also I enjoy reading it again for the last time. The characters involved in the story is the old fisherman, his wife, and the golden fish that the fisher man caught from the sea. I remember the book that I was reading when I was a little. The book has many illustrations about the story and it has reading text at the same time. The book was colorful and it lets me to imagine the story because of its illustrations. The story taught me on how contentment is important. Too much desires is not good at all. We can achieved wealth from our hardwork if we want to be. Desires are always there, it is a part of our lives but it doesn't mean being greedy is right or moral. Being contented is the true meaning of wealth, because being contented is equal of being happy on what we have but it doesn't mean we will never do a hard work for our success. As we desire too much, we lost things too much. Just like what happen in the story, the Fisherman work hard to caught up some fish for the day but he only catch one golden fish. He do good deeds to the fish that is why the fish will grant him whatever he wish. The fisher man told it to his wife and his old wife wish for a new washtub. The old woman doesn't contented of what she wish. She wish a new house, a castle and be a queen of the sea, the fish granted her but it was too much so that the last wish she want never granted and turn the all things that she wish into their original form and lost everything she desires. In real life situation sometimes I become greedy on what things that I think it will makes me happy but it's not. Good and bad karma is everywhere. Karma will be given to us depending on what action we do, either good or bad.
My Overall experience and reaction for Finals
The course specifically EDENG 108 helps me to know the essence of reading. It made me realized how reading is fun and enjoyable. No matter how busy we are we can read different stories and tales if we wish. I learned and discover different moral values that I can possibly apply to myself as an individual and student. I was inspired of different literature I have read. It motivates me to become kind as always and be a good example yo others. Also in applying in academic purposes I can say that writing stories is the best. I learned how to create my own stories that I can used in other courses.
